Hi Pete and others, First, Brian reminded me that the "advanced options" menu choice, under the help menu, needs to be checked before WE will even show the punctuation options. good point for those driven crazy by my instructions because they didn't see those choices!
I think you should write up your punctuation problems and send them to the support email at GW; that's what a public beta is all about. As for quick ways to get some punctuation: you could set punctuation to global, and turn on text for instance, while turning off math and miscellaneous. I think using dictionaries does mean you'll have to spell out each punctuation character you want to hear, but it's not clear to me how you should know which characters go into which dictionaries. I don't think I've quite got punctuation down myself, and so I too am still working on how to get it just right. <smile> Chip -----Original Message----- From: pete gurney [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Tuesday, February 08, 2011 1:34 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re[2]: problem with level of punctuation being spoken hello chip, thanks for that. it was the punctuation panel under screen where i was looking with my email program courier's set file loaded and they were all showing as off but everything was being spoken. but once i close window-eyes and launch it again it went back to speaking no punctuation the way i want it to be. if i understand the way punctuation works now correctly there is no quick way of getting window-eyes to speak some but not all like you could in previous versions of window-eyes. or does setting it to dictionary only speak the same level as the setting of some did in previous versions. if not then i presume that you would have to create a program specific dictionary and then enter the punctuation you want to be spoken into that dictionary. thanks for your help. pete.
