hi Steve and all
just checked the ini file setting in my user's folder (not the All users , but my user name) for some reason it was set to 7 bits; changed it to 8 , and now it talks correctly; thanks very much. one other thing when using the DoubleTalk , when navigating the settings TreeView on the new window eyes user interface , or the list view in outlook express , the DoubleTalk synth speaks partial and cryptic text when announcing the sender's name and subject title , as well as the tree view item and its state.
with Eloquence this doesn't happen , and everything is spoken correctly.
keep it up ,and all the very best
Roy.

Roy,

How about any of your other serial parameters?

Steve

Roy,

This is a known issue with the Quickstart app that we are currently
investigating. Check your data bits setting and ensure it's set to 8
and not 7.

Steve

hi all
am using 7.5 beta 1 with the DoubleTalk serial under windows xp sp3.
installation went fine , as well as the finalizing and apps install.
then the startup wizard came up with 3 radio buttons; I was interested
to know what were the other 2 radio buttons besides the one for the
DoubleTalk synth.
after switching back to the DoubleTalk , it started speaking jibberish
(all sorts of letters , digits , punctuation signs etc) instead of
regular text ,and does so ever since.
restarting the computer doesn't help.
anybody encountered this behavior? any ideas of fixing it without
un-installing , then re-installing everything?
thanks alot and all the very best
Roy.
