Hi. This subject actually has come up quite a bit. The adapters are
definitely available which do work very well with XP and 7. I've found
that the chip set of the adapter is very important. My first adapter
had the Prolific chip set. It worked fine ofn Windows 98 with a 500MB
laptop. However, it did not work reliably at all with XP on a Pentium D
machine. The FTDI chip set adapters from usbgear.com work very well.
Windows 7 automatically installed the driver. I still use a Doubletalk
LT on my desktop machine so the adapter is a permanent item on that
machine. I successfully use these adapters with the Doubletalk LT,
Dectalk Express and even a really old Accent SA. They work well also
with my XP netbook.

Hi folks:
I would like to know if there is a cable that is supported by GWMicro
that will work in way of a USB to a serial device. I have a Dectalk
express unit that someone gave to me and I am going to try to hold on
to this unit for as long as I can. I understand that there is a
Dectalk access32 version built in to Window eyes, and I understand
there is the Dectalk USB. However, i would like to have an external
speech source as well. If anyone knows of a licensed source on where
to obtain something that GWMicro supports, please let me know.
Thanks
Duyahn
