Their software is exactly what I was refering to. Not WE. Since I got rid of a
couple of Del’s little bells and whistles that “sighted fold” think look coom
or what-ever I’m having less issues with things in general.

Hello Tony

I am sure you will be OK. Any issues I have had with Window-Eyes have rarely,
if ever, been hardware related. It is often the software that causes problems.
Whether a computer be Dell, Compaq, HP, Gateway, etc. makes little difference.
The hard drives, RAM modules, processors, chip sets, and so on generally fall
into three categories. The first would be the components used for high end
systems that have a great deal of demand put on them. These can be servers,
high performance desktops, for example. The middle group would be the
components many of the name brand manufacturers use for the consumer and
commercial markets. The third group is where I have experienced the most
problems. Because these components are very inexpensive it becomes an issue of
quality which has nothing to do with Window-Eyes. So if I put in a $19.00 video
card with lots of memory and it creates problems, I cannot blame WE for that.
When that $39.00 two terabyte sata hard drive doesn't read everything as I
expect or those $9.95 1 GB memory modules lock up my computer every now and
then, again WE is not the culprit.

So when you put together your Windows 7 system I am sure everything will work
well.

Vic

Hi,
For about 10 years I put together my own computers. I use to buy a “bare-bones”
system (case, power supply, mother board, processor, and ram). Then I would
install the drives, and other cards or such). The last I put together was an XP
machine about 4 years ago. WE worked great. At this time I also had a Compaq
laptop, WE worked very well on it also but, did have a few issues, "nothing
major.
I ‘ve seen some issues with both WE and Jaws on several different “store
bought” <grin> machines and the issues with all the adaptive software varied
from computer to computer as well as from one manufacture to the next. When I
first got this Del some of their little Del programs gave WE fits and, of
course add in the fact that the last OS that I was really fimiliar with was XP
pro (I kinda skipped Vista, LUCKY ME”).I haven’t put together a win 7 machine
but, I would like to and just see if the difference will be worth it....
Just a thought!!!
