Hi Tony,  I don't think I'd ever buy a prefab desktop.  Not much choice in the 
matter when it comes to laptops, but the idea that I can pay a little more 
money and get the parts I want with the warrantees I want without the bundle 
software I don't want and the hassle of sending my whole computer away to be 
serviced when a part goes.  Add to that the much easier self-install procedure 
of windows 7 and you've got a winner.

Of course, I've also been known to buy a retail edition of windows and wipe 
clean a new laptop installing only the driver packages I want and need, and 
this has worked out very well for me.  It does take a lot of time and prep but 
is well worth it if you must have a prefab system.
