i have the same problem with vista 32 bit when at the windows desktop. it will lose speech every time i press the letter of a app that i know is in the list. i have to close the w e control panel and re open it, wait until it stops talking then use the arrow keys to get to the app. even then it will still lose speech half the time. i think i will let it sit there a few minutes to see if w e will send the alarm that scares me to death when it triggers. i wish this alarm volume could be adjusted. it is way too loud.

Usually, I can get speech back by using Windows-m to go to the desktop and pressing insert backslash. The same thing happens in Word when attempting to save a file with control-s. There are other times when we goes silent, but these are the ones that I am sure of what I just did. I hope this loss of speech will be addressed in the upcoming update to WE-this is something which was made very much worse with WE 7.5.
