Tabbed view is the default view, so if you're not in tabbed view, then
at some point in the past, you went to Tools, Options, Advanced, and
under the Reading and Display tab, set the Open Messages in radio button
to "A new message window." To get back to tabbed view, select the "A new
tab" radio button instead.
