Subject: Re: Clicking a balloon in Windows 7
Thank you, I found it. I went to Ease of Access Center and then followed
the link to "Make it Easier to Focus on
Tasks" and then found a combo box that says "How Long should Windows Dialogs
Remain Open". I noticed that
this dialog also has a check box for Window-Eyes. I wonder what that
actually does.
Mine was set to five seconds, and there is no way that I have that long to
click after I hear the balloon announced. I
wonder if there might be a delay before the prompt is spoken.
Best regards,
Steve Jacobson

Hi guys, this is under Ease of Access centre, look for something to the
effect of "make it easier to focus on an item," I can't recall it
verbatim now. The maximum time can be set to 5 minutes, as previously
stated.

Carol,
I will look for the setting. That is helpful to know.

Hi,
If you are using Windows 7, you can change how long the tool tips remain
visible. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I found this. I have
mine set to 30 seconds and although I don't think it lasts that long, it
does keep the tip up for longer than the five seconds it was originally
set for. Maybe someone can suggest where you might find this setting.

I find that I need to click the balloon while the speech is in progress
for it to work. This is ridiculous, but I don't
know whose fault it is. Some balloons can
be dealt with in other ways, though. Is there one in particular that
you are having problems with? For example, if
you get the "Updates are ready to be
installed" balloon, you can go to Windows Update on the system try and
get them to run. Virus definition update
warnings can be tackled through the
user interface of your virus protection program. In my case, I have to
change a password to a wireless network
every 90 days that results in needing to
enter it in response to a balloon, and have found no other way to do
it. I have to just sit there with my fingers on
the keys ready to hit them at the first word
of the message.

If someone could possibly make a suggestion as to make this work

When wanting to click a balloon that's popped up on the desktop
in
Windows 7, the procedure to do this fails every time for me. It's
not a case of waiting too long before excecuting the command to
click the balloon, as I do it immediately after the speech
notification. Pressing insert+numeric plus twice in rapid
succession
should route the mouse to the balloon, but W-E 7.5.1 informs me
that
it's unable to route pointer to tooltip.

My screen resolution is set pretty high, so I doubt whether W-E
is
unable to pick up the desired balloon.
Thanks for any suggestions in this regard.
