I know this is a major problem in Windows 7 thanks to bugs in the UIA (UI Automation) implementation. Simply telling Window-Eyes not to provide UIA support can solve the problem, but then it means Window-Eyes won't have access to parts of the operating system or even third party programs not to work thanks to them using UIA. So it's a vicious circle really. Either live with the bugs and hope Microsoft comes out with a fix, or get used to the limitations after turning off UIA support. Yes let's hope GW Micro and Microsoft can collaborate so they can fix these bugs.

Hi, Everyone.
GW Micro noted several months ago that Windoweyes often does not release
programs even when the user closes them. As I remember, the GW Micro
person who posted this on the list said it had to do with Microsoft and
windows and was not a Windoweyes problem.
I don't recall this problem with earlier versions of Windoweyes, but,
whether this is caused by Windows, or Windoweyes, or the way Windoweyes
interacts with Windows, or vice versa, I really really hope GW Micro
and//or Microsoft can fix this problem. I'm using XP pro with the latest
updates and Windoweyes 7.51 and, although I close Outlook using alt-F4,
the program is still, in fact, running. This has potentially serious
implications for -- at least theoretical -- hacking. a user may think he
or she has closed down Outlook or another program but, in fact, the
program is still running and, again, in principle, it seems to me,
provides a wide-open path for hacking.
Obviously, the only sure to prevent this is to turn off your computer
when you're not using it, which is not always feasible.
Please, GW Micro, work with Microsoft and come out with a fix for this
issue as soon as possible!
Thanks!
