It should work with that size book. I submitted about a 100-page book
and it worked. It is a bit time-consuming with the cut and pasting
one page at a time and the occasional restart when the process gets
interrupted. But as a free service it is quite good.

Jeff, sometimes Ihave pages like that and the books are over 150 or
more pages. Will that works with big things like that?

Hi, Jed,
There is a free online OCR service at:
http://www.newocr.com/
You can upload that PDF file to the service and it will download
text. There is an unlabelled button or 2 on the page but you should
be able to figure it out. Also, if the PDF has multiple pages then
you need to select each page from a drop down list and use the link
that says "rescan" or something like that to get the new page you
selected. If you have additional questions you can email me.

Jeb,
This is a scanned image file. There is no text for Window-Eyes to grab
which is why it's saying empty document. It will look normal to someone who
is sighted as it is a picture of the document which is how Window-Eyes sees
it.
You need an OCR program such as Kurzweil 1000 or Open Bookk to convert the
document. There may be other OCR programs that I'm not familiar with but
this should get you started.
I've Used Kurzweil 1000 to convert one of these documents before and it does
work.

Subject: pdf files
Hey guys,
Wondering if anyone has a solution for this.
A firend of mine sent me a pdf file, that was scanned.
When i open it, it says blank document. I know there is text in there.
Is there some how some way that the text can be extracted from it, cause
window-eyes isn't seeing it.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Jed
