You need to have a setting called always show system tray icons, or something like that, for the ins s key to work. Otherwise you get misnamed icons and the list box doesn't work right. I disrecall exactly where that setting is, though. I think it's in taskbar properties. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Zielinski" <[email protected]>

From the desktop, he can press WindowsKey-b to get to the system tray. This is a windows command. Once there use the up and down arrows, or the right and left arrows, to find safely remove hardware and use the spacebar or the enter key on it to activate. Arrow to the appropriate hardware item and hit spacebar to begin the process. A popup balloon will appear, and his system should automatically speak it. If it tdeosn't autospeak, when he hears the sound of the balloon, he can press the window-eyes hotkey insert-ctrl-t.

Note on my system you can go to the desktop and do a shift-tab and get to the system tray as well. It's the first thing you land on. Window-eyes has the insert-b command to access the system tray but I believe it may not be as regular about acting correctly at all times for all systems.

I'm using xp service pak 3 here, WE 7.5.2.

My brother uses xp and needs to know how to make the safely remove hardware option available with Window-Eyes. He does not have any way to know when it is safe to unplug his external drive. Unfortunately, I use Win7 and I can't figure out what to tell him. Any help would be appreciated.
