Hi Everyone,
I guess I can use NotePad Plus Plus. It seems to be working, and I
don't have to associate any files. I just do the context thing arrow
down to edit with notepad Plus Plus, andit opens it.
I can edit these files pretty good, and take out all the "null null"
and stuff. Window-Eyes does pretty good with NotePad Plus Plus, as
long as I stay out of the menus.
Jarte didn't work, as it will not open Word 97 and Word 2003 files
without some kind of Microsoft converter.
Do I have an older version of Jarte?

I'm going to ditch that program.
How does Jarte and Ed sharp work with .doc and .docx files? I know
they both work with Window-Eyes, as I have them both installed on my computer.
I guess I'll just bring my documents into DuxBury and edit them
before brailling them.
For some reason, when I try to open a Word document, Adobe
Acrobat reader opens now, or tries to open, I did not intend for
this to happen, but I've botched something up.
I know that WordPad isn't as good as Microsoft Word 2010, but I
thought I might use it for a while. I do own Microsoft Office 2010,
and I suppose I should install it, but I would do it reluctantly. <grin> lol.
I do like the way that Window-Eyes works with Duxbury.
You see, I'm trying to braille a few songs with the chords under
each line of text. Now the chords are only like F AM, and so on.
I've got a lot to learn about Duxbury, but it's kind of fun. It
sure beats brailling all these songs by hand. lol.
We learn by doing.

the "Show Close Button on Every Tab" check box with the mouse
pointer and then unchecking it. After

As others have mentioned, NotePad++ really won't process Word
documents very well. I tried one
document, and when one turns word wrapping on, much of the text
does display. However, what has not
been mentioned is that Duxbury takes advantage of Word styles to
do formatting, and you would loose much
of that by trying to edit a document in NotePad++. However, you
can do some editing of Word Documents
directly within Duxbury itself. Unless I am missing something,
you would be best off learning about
Duxbury's edit features if you are planning on editing documents
from others that are created in Word.
If you are creating your own documents for brailling, using
Duxbury's editor might not be a bad way to
go as well, also. Obviously, you could look at creating a text
document with NotePad++ and then either
including Duxbury commands or bringing your text into Duxbury and
applying formatting there. I think,
though, that it is worth giving some thought to all this and
perhaps experimenting before settling on a
solution. I don't think associating DOC, DOCX, and other such
extensions to NotePad is the answer.
Associating them with Duxbury might work, though. Also WordPad
may work for some of these.
