Well, this is interesting. <grin> lol.
Why should we be forced to use Microsoft's products if we don't want
to? <smile> Why can't Window-Eyes support Open Office? <smile> I know
this has been brought up many times on this list, but it would be
wonderful. After all, Window-Eyes supports Jarte? Why can't it
support Open Office? <smile>
I realize that GW Micro has a good relationship with Microsoft, but
there are other great products out on the market besides Microsoft
products. I've heard that Open Office is one of them.
And really, folks, NotePad Plus Plus isn't a bad program, but you are
right, it will mess up Word files. I can probably reformat these in
Duxbury, especially for those I've taken all the codes out of, not
realizing that I was making them text files again, by bringing them
into notepad plus plus, but I realize that now. lol.
Oh, one thing about NotePad Plus Plus is that it is a great HTML
editor, and it was recommended to Vernon by the folks at Zen Cart
which is what he uses on our online store web site. <smile>
I just wish the menus worked better with Window-Eyes.
I guess you can even convert text files into html files, and it will
put all the code in them for you. I'm trying to learn the html code,
so I can put it where I want it. lol.
It's a learning experience. lol.

OK, if we read your message strictly in the context of the thread,
yes, there might be a few alternatives that somehow could work. And,
as such, a couple have been mentioned. But as for an Over-All
alternative, really Aaron, what choices do we have. The Office suite
contains Word and Excel, two pieces of software that are rather
commonly used. Even if you found an alternative for Word, what is
your real suggestion for an alternative to Excel? I am quite eager
to know, if there would be any software that are accessible with
Window-Eyes, and still can read and save Excel documents - as I have
looked into a few, but none have been really accessible. Then, comes
all the rest of the Office package.
Well, we have had the discussion here, several times, as to
OpenOffice. We all know, that they don't "open" for screen readers -
so for us, they would rather be named "CloseOffice". :) Then, there
would have been WordPerfect, who neither does work with WE, due to
little cooperation-minded team behind the software. Recently, I
tested a suite called Ashampoo Office, and which worked only
partially, but would have been a rather affordable alternative.
So, Aaron and the rest of the staff, what is your suggestion as an
"alternative to Office"? Surely, quite a handful of us, would have
appreciated if there really existed an alternative that worked with
a screen reader. So far, I haven't had any real luck in finding
such, but am all ears, if anyone has some info on the matter.
