I think I'd report him to his boss at the company which has the contract.

I should say that Alan is as happy with his HP as I have been with this
Dell, and evidently his cursor isn't jumping around the screen (so maybe
they've fixed the particular problematic touchpad, since Alan just bought
his); and while I would have ignored one complaint, there were dozens on the
Amazon page.  I did just buy an HP Envy printer, which got great reviews, so
I don't think there's an HP quality problem, perhaps just with one
particular model (which has been more my experience, one will be bad, and
the next will be ok).  (warning: the HP Envy printer has a touchscreen and
isn't usable by someone who is blind unless you've got a sighted person
handy).
