Landmarks are part of the Accessible rich internet applications (ARIA) accessibility standard. They're designed to make web page content and applications more accessible. They're basically just what their name implies; landmarks for major portions of a page like navigation, main content, search, etc. They're intended to give us a quicker way to jump around the main parts of a page rather than depending on links which may be buried amid hundreds of other links.

before. What are Landmarks?
