Hi Shannon,
If it's a Del, in your add remove programs you will find stuff like Del
help, Del support, etc. All of this can be removed. Same goes for HP and
other brands.

Subject: How to determine bloat ware? was: Thoughts on Window-eyes Stability
Vaughan and all,
I am having many of the same issues and complaints with this release of WE
on my new windows 7 64 b machine.
I would love to investigate the solution of removing the "Bloat ware" from
this machine. However, I don't know what is and what is not bloat ware.
How do you tell what is and what is not important to the functioning of your
machine?
Thanks.
I am also in the process of learning how to get rid of ADD-ins that I don't
need as well. I keep getting the message that Outlook is not responding and
frequently get a message that Outlook failed to start the last time.
Would I like to open it in safe mode? Some functionality will be lost in
this mode but it will allow you to trouble shoot the problem.
A few google searches on this topic have indicated that there may be add ins
that are causing the problem. I also don't know which of these add-ins are
necessary to the functioning of the program.
If anyone has any ideas of how to determine which programs and or add ins
are important I would love to learn about them.
Thanks
Shannon

I can certainly testify to the success of removing manufacturer's junk from
the Windows install, and Window-eyes apps like the infamous insert key
definitely find the virtual rubbish bin, but I think it unfortunate and a
statement about poor quality control if Window-eyes apps, particularly those
endorsed by GW Micro, are flaky. In defence of Window-Eyes apps however:
the fact that those which are not wanted can be removed is a very useful
feature; assuming that the install should put them in by default is also
probably a good thing.

Hi,
Since I've made sure not to have any unnecessary aps running or add-ons in
IE I seldom ever have a crash. I haven't changed to IE 10 yet because we all
know that Microsoft releases stuff before the buggs are worked out. They
save a lot on Beta testers by doing this and letting the End Users do the
Beta testing.<Grin>. Also, If you have things such as Del "help" and other
priority software in you PC a lot of times they cause issues with any screen
reader. I removed all the Del programs from my programs list and it greatly
improved the performance.

I guess I don't quite get that feeling. They're doing all the things they
can and...I really don't have a lot of stability problems here. I am running
8 gb of ram on one laptop and 16 gb on another. I still have issues but not
a lot of crashes, famous last words. I guess it's a matter of the software I
use, and the kill win-eyes app is a very useful one if we does crash. re:
error reports and information from gw, well, it's a small company.
I'm not saying these things to fully defend gw, every software company has
their issues, this has just been my personal experience. I just tend to try
one solution at a time and think of where the problem might be, where's the
glitch. It's a puzzle.
just my thoughts,

looked at.He also said a new maintenance update would be coming out
soon. Sure hope they will be able to find the cause and fix it, I've got a
lot invested in Window Eyes.

Whilst I am satisfied that I have improved the stability of my home
pc, I do have issues at work and I think that Deb - you have
summarised how it seems very succinctly.
GW has lost its sharp customer focus; it used to be active in
describing how things work and why they don't. Doug was very good in
this regard.
And yes: it is true that there are many thousands of pcs, with many
thousands of variations, running many thousands of copies of Window-eyes.
But we are lacking the reassurance from GW Micro that efforts are
being made to fix problems, and/or that there are workarounds which
they might wish to share with us.
We are at the point where needed new features cannot reasonably
happen if there are instability issues which are proving complex to
resolve. Thus:
my often requested enhances to braille support may well once again
fall off the priorities list.
Vaughan.

Vaughn and all: I too, at work, at Citibank, have had a lot of the
same issues.
It is as if the Window-eyes folks, and the Sawgrass developers, and
my employer are not in sync with one another.
I have a lot of focus issues where things change by themselves
without warning, and, again, I am getting the 3 beep crashes again.
I am not a happy camper either.
