Hello Evan,

Many of the list members have already responded with some good suggestions but
I also wanted to follow up with you on behalf of the GW Micro team. At GW
Micro, we take great pride in helping our customers access the software running
on their computers and strive to provide the highest level of customer support
available in the screen reader industry. Because Window-Eyes, just like every
other piece of software ever developed, is not perfect it is essential that we
work closely with the Window-Eyes community to help identify problems and
develop solutions to make Window-Eyes as stable, responsive and feature rich as
possible. I read in your message that you sent GW Micro a diagnostic report
in December or January but never received a response. It is possible, that the
email and report you sent us was lost or that it even slipped through the
cracks because of user error. In either case, I would like to apologize and
let you know that we would never purposely ignore a request for help from one
of our customers.

Moving forward, I would like to ask that if you do not receive a response to
your initial support request, please take the time to send us another email or
even better give us a call and speak with one of our technical support
representatives. I will add that Windows Vista and the included Microsoft
email client are not the ideal combination of technologies for screen reader
users but if you are not interested in trying other software which is known to
work better with screen readers, we will still be willing to help you
investigate the issues you are experiencing. I have heard from numerous
customers that Window-Eyes 8.2 is the best version of Window-Eyes since version
7.2 in terms of stability and responsiveness so if you are still having
problems after updating, please contact our support team by phone or email so
we can help you troubleshoot the problems you are experiencing. Thank you for
giving GW Micro the opportunity to work with you and for being a valued
Window-Eyes customer.

Best Regards,

Marc Solomon

Well, in my case, I'm using Vista Home Premium and Windows Mail. In the last
several versions of WE, I have to go into edit mode to compose messages in
it. If I alt-tab away from the program for whatever reason in the middle of
a message, then return, I have to go back into edit mode and find my place
in the message before I can continue to write. Also, if I select multiple
words or sentences in a message and try to delete them, WE freezes up and I
usually have to reboot the computer to get it back. Sometimes We returns if
I wait a few minutes, sometimes not. I never had any of this trouble with
version 7.2. My email worked perfectly. I was slow to upgrade from 7.2, so
when I finally did, I went directly from version 7.2 to version 7.5.4.1. So
I can't say if the trouble would have started at 7.5 or not, but I suspect
that it would have if I had stopped there, since that is when some major
changes were introduced. I was told that this issue was fixed with version
8.0, but I am still having the problem with 8.2. I called GW about this back
at 8.0 and was asked to send in a diagnostic, which I did, back in December
or January. Not sure exactly just now, but it's been several months at
least. Never heard anything back. Since I use my email program every day,
this is a pretty major annoyance. And since I do use it every day, every day
I wish I had just left my computer alone when it was working fine.

So there is a concrete example for you.

Evan
