So what your saying is if your email list is hosted on a cloud service it'll always be up? Ask dreamhost customers around May 12-15 and see if their email/ftp/ and web sites were reachable. I can guarantee they were not. I'm talking about hundreds if not thousands of sites hosted on dreamhost servers and not a local ISP.

That's only if your email list server is on the local isp.

If you have the server in the cloud then this doesn't happen.

Let's not play games of what items are where ... putting these servers in the cloud so as not to be on a local unreliable isp is what I am talking about.

Wht if FB was on a local isp for example?

Sandra,
Think about it. If the GW-Micro domain is down, they cannot send email to the mailing list, however they can post to facebook and Twitter.

Uh But Aaron, if you can do facebook, then you should be able to
do email. You need the internet for facebook. Even I know that.

There is no cloud if you can't connect to the Internet. :)

Why release details via facebook and not on your email lists?

Because we didn't have access to the Internet, meaning we had no
email. I can, however, use my phone to connect to Facebook, and
update people in real time about our current status.

The email lists have been the GW way to release info for years.

Why replace the lists with facebook?

We're not replacing anything. We're supplementing. We also provide
    updates via Twitter.

    Thanks,

    Aaron
