You might try opening the WE control panel and after getting focus on the
settings tree, down arrow to verbosity> common> activated. In this dialog,
there are controls for window type and window title. These controls have
accompanying global/ program toggle buttons, and you may want to set each
toggle button to program before setting the speak window types combo box to
"never" and the speak window titles radio buttons to "off," or you will lose
window types and titles for all applications. Don't forget to save your
settings.

The simplest solution I have employed myself is to shut WE up with the
control key. <shrug>.
