Rob,
I can't say that it's the cause of your particular problem, but I can
say I've seen drastic changes in performance both for the better and
worse with new video drivers. Sometimes the latest drivers make a big
difference for the better and sometimes they mess things up. So getting
the latest drivers is always worth a shot because it's easy to revert
back. Although I always keep the full install of the previous well
working driver in case I need to do a clean install. I've sometimes gone
two or three updates before getting one that actually improved things.

I just tried this on my Windows XP system using Window-Eyes 8.3 and can not
duplicate any of this. I went through the properties dialog just fine and
everything spoke exactly as I would expect. It sounds like you may have OSM
corruption. What if you press insert-backslash and try it again in the areas
you mentioned?
