We know because they are still around. A service like theirs won't last long if
they go around using their product to spread malware of any kind. We also know
because one can scan for malware quite easily to check and be sure. One can
even scan using an application other than one they distribute. It really isn't
in their interest to risk the wrath of the collective internet for some quick
gain. They have been around for a long time and have maintained a great
reputation. Social media and the various tech blogs are quick to spread the
word when scams disguised as legitimate services appear or when well
established services mess up. It only took a couple of hours for virtual riots
to start up when Drop Box made a small, poorly thought out change to their
service agreement and that was just something that had the potential to be a
problem, not something that they actually had used to screw their users over,
and the nature of the internet means that potential users of an application or s
ervice can easily look for controversy since information on such events never
go away. One just has to do a little research to find whatever information is
floating around out there.

Why do they give their service away? Why does NVDA give away their application?
Why does any freeware provider give their application or service away? There
are lots of reasons. Just because they don't charge users doesn't mean they
don't bring in any income. They offer a pro service, though I don't know what
extras that premium provides. They likely get some income through sponsorship
from some of those whose applications they offer.

Chris

This is one of the many reasons I use Ninite to install and update as many
applications as possible. None of the hidden extras that nobody really wants.
So many installers are getting sneakier and sneakier about slipping things in,
often without asking and sometimes with no way to skip them other than to let
them install and then go through the hassle of uninstalling. Truly annoying. I
am so thankful for Ninite and I wish they would add even more applications to
their list of options.

  Chris

Hi. You ever feel like your computer goes to fast for you? I was updating
adobe flash player which I hate. Before I could stop it, it snuck google
krome on me. I had to go in and uninstall it. Beware.
