Hi Kevin,
Actually, the easiest way to check for updates is to press Alt-A to go
to the App Menu, expand the App Management submenu, and choose Add or
Remove Apps. This opens the Add or Remove Apps dialog, where you can
tab to Check for Updates, and press this button. This will check for
updates for all the currently installed apps.

The default hotkey is control-windowskey-i. If you press that key you
can get a list of all apps, new apps which are not installed on your
machine, or apps which have updates. You change this setting by
