In windows mail, when editing, I have the opposite problem. When going
either forward or backwards, each word is usually spoken twice. If I hold
down the control key plus either right or left arrow, I normally have to hit
this combo twice to move to the next word. This started in last wineyes
release. Still using windows Vista.

Similar here. When I am in an edit box, I cannot use the arrow keys,
never mind word by word, to go through the text of what I just entered.
Interestingly, I can backspace through the characters and hear them read
as they are removed. Usually, if I want to read what I wrote, I turn
browse mode on and read the edit box.
Using 8.4 and xp, all updates are in effect.

Hello, just like Hui Thian, I am using windows xp and wineyes 8.4, and I
also can not read words character by character. This happened to me in an
edit box while trying to login to the BARD web page. I didn't have this
problem until I installed wineyes 8.4.
