I found using window eyes, that those audible links talking about using the
pass through key seem to be simple links. At least, the one dealing with
the library seems to work like it used to work before they had the link
mentioning the pass through key. I think that pass through key comments
started a year or so ago, but am not sure.
However, using a friends jaws system, that pass through link for the library
didn't seem to work at all, I couldn't get into my library with a simple
press of the enter key. Going by memory since this was about eight months
ago. I recall I and my friend called jaws customer support, and he said,
"oh, you're talking about the audible site?", to which we said "yes", to
which he had no solution.
However, here is some positive news I can vouch for. I too, like others on
this list, was having a time trying to access my account settings on the
audible page. They told me to hover the mouse over my name on the audible
page and a drop down menu would appear from which I can make my choices. I
couldn't do it for the life of me, so eventually had to have a customer
service make the changes I needed for me. Sounds familiar?
While writing this message, I just tried that suggestion again, , navigating
to the link stating my name, turning off browse mode, using
ctrl-numpad-pluskey, to move the mouse to the link. I used the numpad down
arrow to try to find the dropdown menu, no success. I repeated, but this
time before using the down arrow on the numpad I hit the right mouse button,
no luck. Repeated but this time hit the left mouse button. No difference
than a normal press of the application key while in browse mode. I tried to
read by characters, words, and clips, (though as I write this, I believe
clips only work while in browse mode).
However, I found that if i clicked on the link called:
In an effort to enhance the accessibility experience for our customers, we
have created a page to more easily navigate the new experience, available at
the web address www.audible.com/access
I found the following links available to me:
Cart
Account Details
Sign-out
The account details links did the trick for me!
Now admittedly, this worked because audible provided that work around
I normally don't use that accessibility link, since the audible site seems
to work fine for me without it, except in this instance. But, I to, would
like to know if there is a way to handle these dropdown menus which appear
when your mouse hovers over links. Maybe we are not making it hover
properly with the commands we are using with Window-eyes. Or perhaps, as of
now, there isn't a way to have this happen. If so, that would be a good
think for the programmers at WE to solve if at all possible.
Merry Christmas to all, and best of New Years.

This sounds like a good question for Aaron when he gets back from his
holiday vacation. Audible.com has links with submenus at the top of some
pages. When you land on these links, you receive an instruction to use
your screen reader's pass through key and then press Spacebar to activate.
However, these may not be the same types of elements that you have on the
web page in question. Might be worth a try though!

Perhaps I should explain further...
I need to hover over a link on a business site in order to see an
internal drop-down list. In this drop-down list is our punch in and
punch out options among other choices. Shift plus F10 will not work. I
am also hoping that once I get the list to drop down, I am able to
navigate to invoke my desired choice.
Please help.
