Rick,
I just tried this page and you're right, it's playing what must be a
silent Flash video when it loads. But after waiting a minute or two,
presumably until the video ended, I was able to read the page fine. And
while reading I saw replay. So I'm pretty sure that's what was going on.

OK, I tried a page that recently is giving me problems with WE.
Note, I just read the following page with another screen reader and it worked
fine.
http://news.investors.com/091914-718176-rbs-lloyds-relief-at-scotland-no-vote.htm?ven=yahoocp&src=aurlled&ven=yahoo
With WE I could not read anything useful.
I did see a flash object at the top of the browser while reading the page with
the other screen reader and looked in the WE hot keys how to turn flash off but
havent found it yet in case that is the problem.
Perhaps I will need to slog through the WE Control Panel to find it - don’t
know yet.

Yes, this is the notification bar that has replaced pop up dialogs in
IE. It's managed by the IE Enhanced app.
You should also hear it if you use Save As to save a file. It will
announce the percentage of the download, when it is complete, and the
buttons to run or save.
Any buttons should also include the shortcut, e.g. Alt-S Show all
content, Alt-P Open folder, Alt-C Cancel, etc.

OK, found a hot key I will try next time.
Insert-n ReReads the “Notification Bar”.
This may have been a use of the “Notification Bar” by the Website or
something rather than a standard alert or menu style PopUp message.
So next time I will try Insert-n to see if I can get access to whatever
is locking WE up and that may handle the problem.

Hi Again:
I just had an apparent lockup happen:
I was on the yahoo finance site and clicked the “Reuters” link to read
the headlines from Reuters.
In this particular case WE read me a PopUp after the message
notification bell. It said something about only secure content being
displayed and had what sounded like a show all and close buttons then
locked up.
Usually if I get this message it just goes away I guess since WE
continues working normally but this time it seems to have locked up and
I cant read the page nor the PopUp and thus cant click the show all nor
close buttons I heard during the initial reading by WE of the PopUp
contents.
Perhaps there is a WE key combo to read these messages – I have to see
what I can find in the WE docs for Internet Explorer if something is
documented there – I just forget but think there is a hot key to try if
I can find it.
In the past while arrowing through a web page sometimes a menu would be
stated as popping up but nothing would be read by we and it would lock
up as with this popup but I mucked around in the WE settings and havent
noticed that specific problem lately – don’t know if it went away or if
I just havent recently visited pages where that problem occured.
Anyway, this is the most recent case where WE locked up – it may have
eventually come back, I just closed the window after taking note of it
since I was in the middle of some financial research and couldn’t allow
the mental distraction at that moment.

Hi Vaughan et al:
I have tried all you guys have mentioned including refreshing the screen.
It is not a repeatable problem, it happens once in awhile but not every
time by a long shot on the same page and I have not yet been able to
reproduce the error for posting up something to look at for other useres
of WE.
I am just waiting for WE Version 9 to see if the guys are able to
improve on staibility – the whole new environment for screen readers has
gotten much more complicated as I have warned over the past few years
and I think they are struggling to catch up with the newer technologies.
Yup, so are other screen reader vendors.
I hope GW is not merging other non screen reader features into their
product since that might be a new avenue for potential performance hits
and buggs in new, infant, releases.
For me, there is enough to do with trying to make UIA, html5, Css and
JavaScript dynamics stable and useable.
Anyway, if you have MS Office you have a “free” copy of WE so the price
is right and hopefully WE will regain its leadership role and close the
gap on the other screen reader vendors.
I like WE and the voicing of various control layouts over all the other
vendor products but am frustrated with the current issues as noted in my
posts and many, many other users postings.
I use to use the mouse to click on words in Internet Explorer that did
not read as links but can no longer do that – likely they were java
script or css dynamically modified text.
WE was really good under XP but under 8.1 not quite as stable when it
comes to focus and reading of some pages all be it a massive task to try
and make these objects really usable and accessible.
I almost started complaining about my favorite complaints so I will
stop here and just wait for version 9 of WE to look for some
performance and stability improvements.

Do you toggle browse mode off/on?
I have similar experiences, and in many instances, unwanted panes load
by Internet Explorer, and also Firefox.
Window-Eyes is struggling significantly with respect to new web design
elements but I understand that other screen readers are also having
challenges that weren’t there even 12 months ago.

Hi:
I often read a webpage that sounds like it loads a couple of times and
sometimes takes almost a minute to load completely during which WE is
locked up.
But then when the page comes up the info is there.
The problem is that doing a find on any text I can find on the page
using the arrow keys results in a text not found condition by WindowEyes.
I ReDraw the window with no effect.
I leave IE 11 and Return (alt-tab, and no effect.
I can read the screen using tab or arrow keys but the find does not work.
Anyone have awork-around until the new release of WE?
