Hi Vince,

My OpenBook 9 works for PDF documents.

All you have to do is press CTRL + O and then navigate to your PDF stored on
your hard drive.

Then OpenBook opens it up and reads it to you.

Then you can choose the format you save it into.

Hope this works in your version of Open Book.

Subject: reading empty documents.

Hi,

I also get attachments that say empty document. I understand that these are
most likely a scanned document. I am not understanding what to do next. Do
I open the document and then look for a MS function that will convert it to
a PDF? If so how is that done? WE does fine reading a PDF, so if that
works problem solved. I have had luck printing the document and then using
a KNFB reader to get it to read. I too have a very old version of open
book. Without a scanner can you use it to convert to text?

Sorry for the questions, but scanning is becoming a more usual way of
getting copies of documents. Your help would be appreciated.

Best

Vince
