Hi Richard.

Your experience is normal with this type of display. It is my understanding
that Freedom Scientific have never released the application interface code to
enable direct braille entry from this display. There are individuals on this
list that did start to define Window-Eyes hot keys which might have enabled
direct braille entry. I have lost track of their progress, and I am therefore
unsure as to how successful they were.

I like the Focus Blue displays, but because I cannot direct braille input
within Window-Eyes, mine doesn't get the use I should have expected.

My criticism is of Freedom Scientific for crippling their displays if they are
not connected to JAWS, and one of the surprises for me will be if with
Window-Eyes nine, someone has found out how to get these displays to work
properly.

Vaughan.

Subject: window-eyes and focus 40 blue

Hi;
As the subject suggests I'm the owner of a preloved focus 40 blue braille
display. I'm using window-eyes 8.4. When humanware heard I wasn't using jfw
they said the function of the buttons on the display will be determined by your
screen reader. The g w people sent the driver for the display which I
hopefully installed. I still can't get the braille keyboard to work as well as
some of the keys on the front of the display. On the plus side I can get the
display to move left to right and down the page. I feel a bit caught between
companies. Never realized that a display was specifically made for one screen
reader. If anyone has any experience suggestions would be very much
appreciated.
