Stacy,
You can't control the recording level with an external mic on the VS, so you
have to use an external preamp with volume control.
Both Raul and I have Church Audio preamps and they seem to work well, but
they're not exactly cheap.
I do believe that variable recording level on the VS for the external input
is a feature being looked at, but at this point there is nothing definite.

Can you record with the voice snese using an external microphone?
If so, How? What kind of mic would I need and what settings should I use?
I tried with a stereo mic and a mono mic with line in turned on but had
know luck. Maybe I'm missing a setting somewhere.
