It's true we can't do 8-dot braille, but symbols like brackets (u-chord dots 246, u-chord dots 12456) and braces (dots 246, 12456) can easily be generated in ASCII mode. Unfortunately, it is impossible to generate characters above ASCII 128 through the keyboard. Likewise, control characters cannot be keyed in either.
