If they are reluctant to discuss settings, perhaps it's time for another
router. Some routers only allow aes encryption and if this is the case,
Sense notetakers cannot use them. However most smart routers can be
configured as aes/tkip which means that aes will be tried first. Then if
that doesn't work, tkip is used instead. This is perfectly safe. Linksys
won't let you down.
