HI Vicky,
Your analysis is the best as usual! Then again, it wasn't the usual (grin
smile)!
What I noticed on the Schwan's site, I could technically go through the
motions of adding to the shopping cart but when I checked my cart, I had the
first item I ordered checked three times instead of having three different
items in the cart. I notice when I order with PC, one doesn't get a
confirmation of something being checked. It simply goes back to favorites
but when one checks the cart, the items were definitely checked. I'd try
again!
In the previous upgrade, the messages one wrote didn't stay in the storage
box. They disappeared! So does one's sent messages goe to sent mailbox or
those one wishes to come back to go to outbox? This wasn't all that
possible before I don't believe but then, I didn't use voice sense much with
Email unless I was able to complete my session in one sitting! Sorry to
hear Email program has buggs! I'm certain they will be ironed out!
Thanks for the heads up!
Jim

Subject: Re: [GWN] Voice Sense reviews?
Hi Jim and All,
Regarding the upgrade of the Sense note takers, should there be major
problems, I have no doubt they would be addressed promptly.
I did try the Schwan's site, but still couldn't add an item to the
shopping cart. So, I'm wondering if it is something else besides cookies
that is causing the problem there?
I haven't dealt much with the review being requested, or was it actually a
comparison, because I haven't yet upgraded my mPower to the Apex-although,
the mPower is at the Sendero office to be forwarded on to HumanWare for
that purpose as I write this. But, although I find the mPower and Voice
Sense to download email at close to the same speed, I find the mPower
tends to have more problems with the email database than does the Voice
Sense with its EML email files. And, when browsing the web for more than
just a quick check of the weather or a quick Google search, I always tend
to use the Voice Sense as the mPower would get a memory error and need to
be reset. But, all this could change with the Apex, and I just can't
speak with that experience right now.
Now, as to the new things with the email on the VS, well, although I can
get used to anything, I personally kind of miss the quick keys of getting
to the folder list or the out box, I guess formerly the storage box.
Sure, I can tab around to the folder list, and I do like having the sent
items box in addition to the out box, but I sometimes just miss the quick
keys of getting to that folder list. Also, but its nothing that can't be
fixed with a reset or two, but the email program, at least for me, has
seemed to crash more than usual, at least on three or four occasions when
I have tabbed to and then pressed enter to open the sent items folder.

Hello!
My wife and I got the Voice Sense and we have been very happy with our
units. GW Micro has excelent customer support! You can't go wrong there!
I have seen a Braille Sense and they are really nice looking!
At this point in time, there is a new upgrade! Not many know about the
ins and outs of this upgrade so it is really hard to say how the sense
products work now that this new upgrade is in place. I for one would
like to hear how people like the changes in the email client as an
example. I for one cannot connect to the internet with my unit since my
ISP uses an AES connection. I'd need to try mine elsewhere. I did have
some email saved in my unit I could read and that exercise was most
encouraging with the inbox, outbox, sent messages and saved messages
boxes. I think it is better but don't know whether this new arrangement
will address everyone's concerns adequately or not. I also would like to
know how nicely the cookies work with this upgrade! I would have tried
the Schwans site to see if I could place an order now! As I say, my
units don't work with the AES connection I have so am out of luck. I'll
address this specifically later! I think this is why there hasn't been a
forthcoming review as of yet! If I were in the market for either Apex or
Braille Sense, I'd probably go Braille Sense. Humanware finally
addressed the wireless internal adapter issue so nobody has to depend on
those wireless plug in cards. That was a big problem with the M-power.
I have not seen the Apex so can't give you any feedback about it at all!
I have considered some other issues which I will speak about in another
post.
Take care!
Jim
