Terri, The old eureka had software where you could customize the braille code. That was back in the late 80's and I loved it, I wish the bsp had a similar feature. It didn't have a braille display and did automatic braille to print translation, so the code was mainly for speed of writing, one of my favourites, being an anthropology student at the time was dots 4 5 6 a which for my code meant animal, of course if I wanted to write animals I would have to write the whole word, but having the code sure did make things faster at times. BTW I'm in Canada, I didn't know Humanware was based here, it wouldn't have effected my choice to buy the bsp. I hate dealing with customs therefore I'll find a dealer to do it for me LOL. Tessa

The closing bracket has always been dots 2,3,5,6 dot 3. These are two-celled signs. The only software I know which allowed a person to customize their own braille table of abbreviations was Monty and notetakers don't use it anymore. Unfortunately, notetakers can't be as flexible as the good old slate or brailler, where you could "make up" your own personal rules for writing braille.
