Raul,
I don't need to rereformat, but I have a question. If you do this, does it
set evrything to defaults?
What I mean is, does the vs look like it would when you first buy it.

Subject: [GWN] email crashes and a possible solution
Hello Vicky and all. The mailinfo.txt file is a control index file which
keeps a list of all your emails. If your mailbox is empty, the
mailinfo.txt file may not exist or may be empty. From time to time this
file gets corrupted and/or out of sync to what is really there. If
corruption happens, it can cause the crashes of the email program. To
fix the email crashing, do the following.
1. Close all programs.
2. Open the file manager and press enter on flashdisk.
3. Navigate to the email folder and press enter on it.
4. Press enter on each mailbox which is causing the crash and navigate
to the mailinfo.txt file and delete it.
5. Close the file manager and start your email program.
When the email program launches and sees that a mailbox has messages,
but no mailinfo.txt file, it will recreate it and it will match what you
have. Now things should work correctly.
I've been thinking of the many messages on the email troubles some of
you are having. My thinking is that if the above steps have been
followed and the problems are still happening, perhaps it may be time to
check the flashdisk for errors. To do this, connect the Sense notetaker
to a PC and open the properties of the flashdisk drive. Go to tools and
then to check disk. After checking the disk, if problems are found and
corrected, give it a try and see if the lock up problems go away. If
not, I'm afraid it may be reformat time. Note that doing a reformat will
completely wipe out the flashdisk. So only do this after backing up your
existing data. If you read kb1090 at www.gwmicro.com/kb1090 you can find
out how to make a backup of all your flashdisk content. Once you have
done this, assuming you are using 5.5 firmware, choose the format item
under utilities and choose the flashdisk. Follow the prompts to reformat
the drive and once it is finished, feel free to copy in your backup
files. Now give the email program a try and things should work the right
way.
Many thanks.

Well, of course Raul knows exactly how this is supposed to work. But,
just testing things here, I, after moving any of my EML files containing
the emails I wanted to save from my inbox and sent folders to another
folder on my flash disk, deleted both the mailinfo.txt files. Then, I
hit the reset button. However, in continuing to watch when my
mailinfo.txt file got created, I didn't see it get created in the inbox
folder until I had actually received an email after doing the receive new
mail command. And, although I did send a test message, I never did see a
mailinfo.txt folder be created in my sent items folder, and still haven't
after sending a few more email messages.

Are we suppose to have mailinfo.txt files in our inboxes and sent boxes?
And
if we don't, how do we put them there?
Thx
Steve

Nope; that's correct.

I have a mailinfo.txt file in my inbox folder, as well as one in my
sent
items folder, but none in my outbox folder. Is this supposed to be
correct? Or, somewhere along the way, have I perhaps copied this file
to
my sent items folder by mistake?
