With the advent of UIA things might be changing so I decided to hold
off developing my External script since it is for performance
evaluation unless I find an example of an external script that works I
can read through.
In the meantime I am using VBScript to handle my scripting needs - it
works and there are plenty of samples.

Have you tried the workaround I posted? In our testing, it worked just
fine. This bug is fixed in a future version, but with the workaround
it should be easy enough to deal with even in 7.0.
