Hi Again,
Dennis has told me there are no issues so I will keep it as is for the
viewing the page in text or html form.
But I did add another one Dennis suggested, when on the list of links and
you want to read that story immediately I will ad another hotkey, Alt-R so you
can load the page, list it, and then go directly to the text of that page
locally, not on the web site. Thus doing only one hotkey action and not several.

Rick,
I have made 2 changes so far on the new program and one is the ability to
go from List view to Detailed view. At the moment you have detailed only.
This will allow you to see the URL's if you want to, but not really needed
so the default in the future is List mode.
Also, since this option is there I changed the Alt V hotkey to Alt T which
is the obvious way to go since that is the hotkey for a text file view.
If anyone has used it and find it prompting for a permission when not using
an XP computer let me know.

Hi Rick,
I may delete the uploaded version since there seems to be too many issues
and start over.
Your question is partially correct. What I do on first start up is have a
default web site that is not loaded immediately but can be gotten using several
different hotkeys.
To load the web page and list all it's links except script programs you use
Alt-L, or Alt-G, or Alt-D, or tab back to the button.
There is a default link or web page in the text field that is saved in the
.ini file. You could edit the .ini file if you wanted to to get your default
web page or entering it in the text field. Once entered in the text field you
either use the Alt-S hotkey or the file menu S option.
That default will now be saved in the .ini file for future default.
Now when hitting the Alt-G hotkey that page is not loaded into the list
because it allows you to go to that page and view it from that web site, thus
under the control of the web site scripts and such.
That list of links you see when loading a web page into the program you can
go down the list manually or just use the first letter of a link to search it
faster. I will add a find option in the future for any partial word search for
a given link.
The list you see is all the links of the page except java script and other
scripting language scripts...
Once on a link you can use only 4 hotkeys or file menu options and they are
Alt-L, Alt-G Alt-D, or Alt-E where Alt-E loads that link into the edit field
and remains there until changed, or you could edit it, then press the button or
use Alt-D to load it. Alt-D is a fast way to clicking on the button without
tabbing to it.
Now the Alt-W loads the page as a local web page, viewed still by your
browser but on your computer with all the web page java script and other
scripts deleted.
The alt-V opens up the saved text version of the same web page. This allows
you to look at text only and that allows any future breaking news or other
topics to be searched for inside a set timer to alert you of when that specific
item shows up or changes on that web page.
That feature is not installed yet for I do have many changes to make right
now and one is get rid of the link display for you can view that link by using
the Alt-E key as described above.
I still have to change my save file mode to include Unicode web pages for I
assumed all to be downloaded as text and they are not, especially European web
sites.
So a simple check and save accordingly has to be added this morning.
I hope this helps a little, the text file is the help menu option and is
also stored with the program as file number 3.

Hi Bruce: So you just link to the url the user enters or you have a url you
link to in your program when a user clicks a button?
That or you have a list of sites where they have news and then link to the
sites when a user picks a site from a list of available sites?
Does that sound right?

Hi Rick
I go to the page you enter on the edit box line.
At the moment it is under the users control, but Dennis may have an
issue with global for I did not even think of it when making the package for
either I went by it fast or it was not there; probably went by it and when
not looking for it you can miss it.
So I will have to delete it and upload it again.
Figures I would do something wrong.

Hi Bruce:
Are you parsing individual web pages or are you using the news providers RSS
Feeds?
Just curious since I mucked with both methods some time ago and each had
their own advantages and disadvantages.

Hi Dennis,
I have uploaded the beta version of Breaking News. It loads the entire
page, saves an html version in the default folder titled Breaking News
folder.
I have not got a list of web sites yet, just one web site at the moment.
It will display all links in the list view and you can view it either in a
local html file or text file.
I have no alerts yet for I want this part tested and improved before
moving to that part.
There are some web sites I can not look at because they do not load the
page until you trigger the page from a "OnLoad" event.
I probably could figger that one out eventually but that is the only
pain at the moment.
but it can load HLNTV or CNN or Fox News without any problems.
It seems to be OK going to any web site on the link list displayed in
the list view.
It is called BreakingNews and can be downloaded now for testing or
feedback.

I was thinking of having the category choices as an option. that's
correct that was what I was thinking. If it could also show the top
headlines in general that would be good.
