Strangely enough, this only seems to happen when I use JDK 1.6.0_03 but not version with 1.6.0_14. Also, it only seems to happen on Windows, not on OS X (not sure about Linux). Maven version doesn't seem to matter. My guess is that there's something in the older JDK that doesn't properly detect native Java logging.
