The good news is there is some way to fix the crashes. The bad news is that I have no idea what it is. The only change I am aware of is that I enabled/added deubgging messages. I must check if anything I enabled might actually have any side effect and also whether something has changed in the toolchain/libraries recently. So, to make the fix permanent some more testing will be necessary; I will let you know once there is something to test.
