Kim,

The only place we can stop would be in Wilton which would be at 36 miles.
We'll need to turn right off Walters Rd on Hwy 56 to Wilton instead of going
left to Hester. Slight deviation but thanks for bringing it up because I
hadn't really considered where the stop would be yet.

See ya tomorrow!
Tony

    G-Men & Women,

Weather again looks great for the weekend and we should be able to beat any
rain that is expected later in the day.

For the A group, we'll do a variation of the Tar River Ramble route. I
have attached the link for the map and we'll follow most of that route but
instead of coming back on New Light, we'll swing through Creedmoor and come
back on Cheek/Patterson/Kemp/Carpenter Pond. This variation of the cue sheet
will make the ride 70 miles as opposed to 63 miles.

If you haven't noticed by now, my hatred for New Light continues to grow.
Traffic, especially on the way back, is heavy and the road has many potholes
which appear to be getting worse. Going out on New Light is bearable but
coming back leaves a lot to be desired. So, I am trying to avoid coming back
on New Light as much as possible and still do our rides east of Hwy 50.

One more thing. When you see your ride leaders, tell them how grateful you
are for what they are doing. It is a tough job and, at times a thankless one,
and without them you wouldn't have these great rides that they are putting
together. Just look below not to mention the rides that come up during the
weekday offering rides to virtually all skill levels. This is what is making
our club grow stronger and bigger. I am always inundated with new folks
inquiring about the Gyros.

Here is the schedule for the week:

http://www.raleighgyros.com/locations.htm

    THE PLAN:
One or more groups will leave with the intent of riding as a group at a
target pace. We will try to cover the same routes, albeit a shorter distance
for the slower group, so if you're struggling or want to ride at an easier
pace, you can move back to a slower group. If you're already in the slowest
group, the ride leader will check to make sure you can make your way back alone
or with another volunteer. You'll know within the first 7 miles whether or not
you're strong enough to maintain the pace. The general rule is that you should
be able to maintain at least a 19+mph pace for the A Group, 18mph pace for
40-50 miles with the B+ Group or a 16mph pace for 30-40 miles with the B Group,
when considering which group to ride with. If you can not maintain these paces,
then it is suggested that you consider the C/B- Sunday ride. (Please refer to
the link above).

Each group should make a concerted effort to keep the group together but
there will always be those who want to pick up the pace on the return. It is
more appropriate to do this the last 5-7 miles of a ride. The short hammer
sessions, that are always inevitable during our rides, will not be affected.

To find out more about pacelines, please read the link below.

    Thanks, Tony
