Hi Gang I wanted to post a review of what our group is all about. We all get together to ride because we enjoy ride in group rides. I looking back at todays ride we did not do a very good job at dictating this philosophy. Once we turned onto Cassam Rd. we imediately split up into four groups based on climbing speeds, that is what we usually do but once the climb is over we would regroup and continue the ride as a GROUP. This did not happen today. I was not feeling my climbing legs at that point and was at the back of the four groups and expected to find the rest of the riders at the junction of Ellis Chapel but to my surprise no riders in site. A few riders approx. 4 rode slowly and allowed the dropped riders including myself to catch up before we turned onto Bahama Rd. We did not see the rest of the riders until we got to the rest stop at the store at Stagville Rd. If I had been at my normal post close to the front of the pack, as the ride leader I would have requested that we regroup at the top of the climb as we normally do in these cases. If the ride leader is not in position to make these decisions we have been riding together long enough for someone else to step in and make thoise decisions. We need to get back to why we developed this group and respect the rules we have put into place many many months ago about keeping the group together after big climbs and section we call for open play. The usual will always play when we get with a few miles from the finish. Again this is why we like riding in group rides!!
Enought said and please frame from allowing this summary to start a huge thread of further discussion. Take this note for what point it is trying to express and lets not allow this from happening in future group rides.
