As Sam said yesterday, Leslie's ride last Saturday was a B ride. Early in the season, the rides tend to be slower because it is a time to ease back into riding after the so-called "off " season. Clubs will rate their various groups at slightly different paces but Gyro B rides will and should average 16-18mph as the season progresses. Mileage will also increase. C's should be in the 14-16mph range. Another example is the A group. Right now, they are averaging in the 18-20mph range. By late spring, it'll be 20-22mph average and for greater distances.
