I really appreciate Donna taking action on the NC litter problem and for her appeal to the N&O. Even though I have lived here for many years now, I still react bitterly to the litter along the NC roads when I walk, jog or ride. When we first moved here it was the first thing we noticed - beautiful vegetation along with tons of trash. We never experienced that level of road trash in my home state of Ohio.
Bottom line, I've concluded that North Carolinians are pigs and there's not much any one can do about the problem though many have tried. I've been here 26 years and the problem has only gotten worse. I'm happy to help clean up the roads with the Gyros, but it only makes a very small dent in this enormous problem. It almost makes me wish for "big brother" where roadside cameras record the license plate of those that throw trash out their windows or have trash fall out of their truck beds as they ride along. Of course we would need stiff fines for those that are caught.
