AG's (A Gyros),

We are going to try to do something different to spice things up a bit on
Saturday. Instead of doing the "Open Play" like we've done in the past, we'll
try something a bit more organized and team goal oriented.

We are going to do a little Cat & Mouse.

Here is the plan. Bert came up with a great route for this to take place.

At 25.5 miles we make a left turn on Range Road. For those of you who have
been on this stretch before, it is a rolling section of smooth road with a
slight incline making it perfect for a breakaway for 3-4 of our strongest
riders. to the intersection of Range & Enon Roads is 5 miles. With about a 1
1/2 minute lead, the rest of the group will work together to bring back the
breakaway. That should give the chase group about 4 1/2 miles to catch the
breakaway.

Depending on the number of riders we have, we'll either do a double or single
paceline with short pulls. Remember, THIS IS NOT "EVERY MAN FOR HIMSELF." We
work together as a team, form a chase group and reel in the breakaway.

Now, the 3-4 man group may drop some of their own in trying to keep us at bay.
We may do the same. That's the nature of the game.

Think of this section like a Tuesday night Rick ride where we are working hard
but working together to keep the pace up high. (Well, maybe not that crazy)

We also may not succeed in catching the breakaway so instead of regrouping at
the intersection of Range & Enon Roads, the breakaway should continue to the
next intersection of Range & Moriah Roads. That's a total of 9 miles. (God, I
hope we can catch them before the Range/Enon intersection).

If we have not caught them by then, Range & Moriah with be the point at which
we will regroup and ride the next 5-6 miles to the rest stop in Moriah.

So this chase could actually last as long as 9 miles depending on how strong
our Gyro A Supermen are in keeping the main chase group away.

If this turns out to be successful we will incorporate this Cat & Mouse in our
future rides.

See you all on Saturday.

(Hmmm, I wonder who will want to volunteer to be in the breakaway group of 3-4
riders?)
