I did do some research on how long their battery life was and it seemed to be about 50 hours. My commute one way is 1.5 hours; while that's not much compared to what I ride on a weekend basis or even on the trainer, I'd like to keep my commute to an hour or less.
Right now it's taking about 35 mins there and sometimes 1.25-1.5hr to get home in the darn car and I can't find a carpool. So out of time and financial necessity I have to commute differently. I was thinking of just riding in on my regular bike but then I saw these and started doing some looking at them and wondered if it was worth it. I sure feel like a wuss on an e-bike but on the other hand if it cuts my commute to 1 hr each way that's pretty good. On the other hand, if any of you go from N. Durham to RTP on a regular basis and want to carpool, shoot me an email off list. So far no ones picking up my offer to car or vanpool-totally amazing to me. I remember seeing them on sale somewhere for less than 1K. I suspect that's what they're really worth. Are you saying you would have a long commute? Battery capacity could be a concern. Their website site offers little to no technical information. Cycle9 in Carborro is a good resource for ebike info, though I don't think they carry this brand. /js On Wed, Mar 16, 2011 at 6:07 PM, mary dorsey <[email protected]> wrote: I have just found these kilowatt bikes for commuting. Has anyone had any experience with them? I can get one for a very reasonable price, and of course they are only for commuting which is what I want. But I've never seen one or spoken with anyone who has used one. Thanks mary -- You received this message because you subscribed to the Gyro email group.
