When I was researching early 19th-century eyelet techniques for The
Lady's Stratagem, I found out they sometimes made a circle of wire, put
it around the hole, and sewed over it for invisible extra strength. You
can probably buy appropriate premade wire circles (jump rings) from a
jewelry supply place such as Fire Mountain Gems.

Why not just make hand sewn eyelets? I make mine for my costumes by making a
hole with an awl, then sewing a whip stitch around it---4 in a star, then 4
more, evenly spaced, then an additional 8. 16 simple stitches in all and they
hold very well. I use these on my Elizabethan corset, which takes a LOT of
strain. The nice thing is that you aren't cutting the fabric. The awl just
moves it and the stitches hold the hole open. You could do 8 or even 6 for the
BJD clothes.

LOL! Just out of curiosity is one of my favourite phrases. 😆 I need them for
BJD clothes. I've tried the tiny eyelets, but they just don't work without
leaving me worried about damaging the doll. That makes them a wasted effort.
Cheers,
Danielle

Out of curiosity, what do you need them for?

Hello everyone!
It's wonderful that this list is making a comeback, I've really missed it. I'm
hoping that someone has a source for teeny tiny grommets. I need actual
grommets, with the backs, not eyelets that split in the back. I'm looking for
ones that are about 1/8th to 3/16th inch in size.
Cheers,
Danielle
