I'm sure you meant kimono fabric. There's hardly enough material in one
kimono to make a 2005 dress, let alone anything more voluminous.
Nope. I meant Kimonos...picked apart and re sewn. There's an example of this
very thing in the Kyoto book....page 291 in the big 1 volume book.
And since kimonos are made of uncut lengths of fabric and are
traditionally sewn with large stitches in order to be taken apart for
washing, it would be easy to take them apart for other uses. Since
the traditional width of the fabric is only 22 or 23 inches, it would
take a number of kimonos to get enough fabric for most 19th century dresses.
