Few people dare to get me costume-related gifts because I don't need
fabrics/trims/patterns (I have a huge stash and extremely particular
needs, plus I sew relatively few things these days). And I buy my
research-related materials outright so I can deduct them on my taxes.
So nearly all my holiday gifts were very routine (pleasure reading,
cologne, etc.).

The exception was my h-cost Secret Santa gift. I was delighted to find I
was assigned to Jonnalyhn Hall, with whom I've already had a
correspondence and who happened to buy some wool from me a while back,
which ended up being part of her wedding costume. So for my gift she made
me a handsewn pouch from a scrap of that wool, with a drawstring that I
believe is hand-twisted from wool yarn. Inside the pouch were two lovely
strands of gemstones (one malachite, one lapis) that I can use for my
other hobby/business (jewelry-making). All in a little tin that stared at
me evilly while I decided whether to open it early ;-)
