Have you tried soaking the garment in Vodka or other similar alcohol overnight (even rubbing alcohol might work).
We used to do that with some theatre garments that came from of our more "fragrant" actors and when washing didn't work to remove the scent. Since it can kill bacteria that causes scent, perhaps it would work on mold as well?
