Bjarne, does embroidery usually shrink the item you're making? I
thought that was the point of putting the fabric under tension, to
avoid the threads pulling the base fabric.

No it does not shrink at all, but this is also a much different tecknique. I
use a large frame to stretch my fabric, and for ordinary embroidery where it
only is motifs made with satin and long short stitches, it does not shrink.
This trapunto work, i think would shrink just as much as heavy quilting
would do.
