The link with the trousers was from an on-line shop selling armour, clothes and
such. But it is VERY amateur-like, most of the clothes are rather fantasy than
historical. But I just saw that complicated fall-down system and didn't know
anything about it, so I thought I should ask. I know 2 kinds of trousers
(hosen), probably the two Suzi Clarke mentioned. I guess both are available at
historic enterprises:

As I said, I've never paid much attention to the leg wear, I knew only that
very tight hosen were worn during the later middle ages. I thought peasants and
working people wore something more comfortable, but - now after re-searching in
all my pictures- it seems I was wrong... oops, I really have a gap on that
topic...

I'm interested in 12-14c middle and western Europe, like Anglo-Saxon and
around. Not southern Europe like Spain and Italy.

I agree with Suzi that these are meant to replicate late 18th or 19th
century fall-front trousers. What place and time are you researching?
11th-century Anglo-Saxon men wore different leg coverings than
15th-century men in Italy, but both are from the middle ages.
