It's current and it brushes past history and costume, combining social and political influences. As someone who was already very interested in historic costume before I took the class, I must admit, I found this book vague and well, lacking. My favourite for teaching a class on Historic Costume would be 20,000 Years of Fashion by Francois Boucher. I like the text and I like that it is full of art that illustrates style.
